The ninth DIY kit in collaboration with the incredible Lauren Heaver has everything you need to create an abstract embroidery hoop using one of my printed textures.
The main rule for the kit is that there are no rules - there is a basic instruction booklet that gives you a few tips and starting points, but don’t forget that you can contact me at any point if you need help or guidance. It is important to remember that this is not a “how to” guide, and isn’t a paint by numbers kit - no patterns to follow!
The key is to be experimental and to try and think outside the box. I’m not going to give you a step by step guide on how to create the same hoop as mine, there’s no fun in that!
For absolute beginners, try not to worry - I didn’t know how to stitch two years ago, and the reason I love the abstract patterns so much is that no one know what it’s supposed to look like!
And for those seasoned pros out there, try and take a step back. Don’t think about the rules or the finished piece, try and let the free-form shapes and colours lead you to a more intuitive stitching experience.
For the first time in my DIY kits, I have included a selection of beads including some semiprecious stones. There are beginners instructions included on how to use them, but you can ask me any questions you need to!
Each kit contains :
- 1 x 5” beech embroidery hoop
- 1 x printed fabric sample
- A selection of DMC embroidery thread
- Embroidery needles
- 1 x handy needle threader
- 1 x pair of sharp embroidery snips (only use these for thread!)
- 1 x set of basic instructions, hints and tips
- 4 x beautiful mini art prints created by the amazing Lauren Heaver
- A selection of seed and semi precious stone beads
- All the printed elements have been created using recycled materials to help make the kits as sustainable as possible!
Dispatch and shipping times might be a little longer than usual as I wait for all of the components to arrive, but I’m aiming to get them to you ASAP.
Shipping costs the the US have increased by over 50% here in the U.K., so I will now be offering a basic and an upgraded shipping option. Please note with the basic shipping option, tracking will not be available and I unfortunately can’t take responsibility for lost packages - I will still provide proof of postage. I would always recommend using the tracked and signed for option for international orders.
I can’t wait to see what you all create, don’t forget to tag me in your work and use #saltstitchesdiy so I can see!
